The 'Best Smooth Jazz' Podcast runs 2 hours and features the very latest Smooth Jazz artists and firm favourites from the past 5 decades. It's a real Cool blend of classic and new in Smooth Jazz hosted from London UK also televised on the web too. The Podcast broadccast is 'commercial Free' and 'not for profit'.
On the Best Smooth Jazz I review new albums and tell you the ones not worth buying. Listen to the Podcast for the newest of albums months before release dates.
Although I love Phil Collins and Sade there is no place for these artists in my Smooth Jazz Podcasts. Some people regard them as Smooth Jazz - to me they are not. Some so called Smooth Jazz stations in the States play a mad mix of music they call Smooth Jazz. Really The Beatles ain't Smooth Jazz nor is AC DC ;) !
About me Rod Lucas
I've been playing Smooth Jazz on British radio (BBC) since 1971 (I started at 15 years of age).
In those early 70's I featured people like Milt Jackson, Stanley Turrentine, Hubert Laws, Oscar Peterson, George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Cal Tjader, Erroll Garner, Ramsey Lewis, Sergio Santos Mendes, Donald Byrd and Roy Ayers. Styles included Spanish Flamenco guitarists like Paco de Lucia and Luiz Bonfa. Latin singers too, like Maria Helena Toledo.
I only play instrumental Smooth Jazz from the USA & Europe also Japan. Hear new acts like ThreeStyle from Bavaria, NJ Lady Fingers from the USA and Dave Stephens from the UK.
So I play Dave Koz to Vincent Ingala, Oscar Peterson to Cindy Bradley. All the SmoothJazz.
I play is all hand picked. I'll only play tracks that fit with the Podcast of Best Smooth Jazz.
